I grew up on a farm in a small town in the Pacific Northwest and spent the majority of my childhood riding horses, dirt bikes, and skis. I moved to Spokane, WA after high school and earned myself a marketing degree, which led me into my career as a producer at an advertising agency.
I first learned what "type 2 fun" was in 2016 when I third-wheeled a multi-day SUP expedition across the Utah desert with Sunny Stroeer and Libby Sauter. That trip, paired with a three-month course in mountaineering, kickstarted a love for adventure and suffering in the backcountry that I didn't know existed in me.
Since then, I've completed two first SUP descents of PNW rivers, along with a handful of multi-pitch ice climbs with my late husband, Jess Roskelley, who passed away in a climbing accident on April 16, 2019. He was my trusted climbing and life partner and I owe most everything I know about technical outdoor adventure to Jess. I plan to continue owning the spirit of our adventures together for as long as I live!
- First SUP descent of the Spokane River (111 miles, 6 portages)
- First SUP descent of the Clearwater River (94 miles)
- Ice climbs: Guinness Gully (III, WI4), Carlsberg Column (III, WI5)
Fun Fact: I was a rodeo queen in high school!
What are you looking forward to?
I have a SUP trip planned with Morgan Tilton and Sunny Stroeer to explore the Broken Group Islands in British Columbia in summer 2020!
Where have you been in your LOWA Boots?
My favorite place where my LOWAs have taken me is Bridal Veil Falls in Telluride, CO. Jess and I climbed the falls together in January of 2019, which was our last time climbing together. I will hold that climb close to my heart forever.
