What do I look for in a great travel and adventure shoe? Something that’s lightweight yet well-built, a shoe that I promptly forget about after putting it on, which for me is the very definition of comfort.

When it’s monsoon time in Vietnam or the grey skies of Norway decide to open up with a temperamental downpour, I also appreciate shoes that are waterproof.

So I was pretty excited to test drive the Lowa Lynnox GTX Lo. The tech specs say it has a bi-injected DynaPU® midsole for support and rebound. The grip is great, thanks to an outsole with widely-spaced lugs for good traction on loose terrain. Better yet, it has a patented new GORE® Invisible Fit Technology that bonds the GORE-TEX membrane directly to the upper. If you think Gore-Tex means heavy, try these guys out. They’re incredibly lightweight and yes, waterproof.
