Robert Jasper

Occupation: Alpinist, adventurer
Even as a child, Robert Jasper had mountaineering on his mind as he romped around snow drifts in his native Black Forest. By the time he had turned 20, the professional Alpinist had already scaled more than 100 of the most challenging routes on the north faces of the Alps all by himself – some of which had never been climbed before.

Robert Jasper really turned heads when he conquered the three largest north walls in the Alps (the Eiger, Matterhorn and Grandes Jorasses) in record time within a single year. In 2003, he was named the world's most successful mixed climber by the German-language magazine “Klettern” (climbing). New challenges like the Flying Circus M10, Ritter der Kokosnuss M12 and the dry-tool endurance route Ironman M14+ are considered to be the world's toughest routes and just a few of his highlights.

I wear my LOWA shoes day in and day out – no matter whether I’m strolling through town or scaling the world's sheerest walls of ice.
- Robert Jasper

Each tour is a unique event for the extreme mountaineer. But the north wall of the Eiger continues to lure him. To him, it is a place of personal ambition, passion, adventure, danger and the ultimate athletic challenge.

In 2005, Robert Jasper was nominated for the Piolet d’Or, “the Alpinism Oscar” to recognize his exceptional accomplishments. With the first free ascent of the Eiger north walls (the Japanese, Ghilini Piola and Harlin Direttissima) and the first-ever climb of the Odyssee (8a+) in 2015, the most challenging route up the Eiger's north face, Robert Jasper has accomplished some Alpine milestones that have set standards in modern Alpinism.

Robert Jasper is considered to be one of the world's best extreme mountaineers. Today, his expeditions take him to world's most remote mountains: the Everest region of the Himalayas, Baffin Island, Tierra del Fuego and Patagonia. He has starred in a number of films and documentaries, including the worldwide success “Die Alpen” (the Alps). He also serves as a speaker to international business executives.
