Luis Stitzinger
Occupation: Alpinist, mountain guide, author
Government-certified mountain guide and ski instructor Luis Stitzinger was born 1968 in Füssen in Allgäu and has been out and about in the mountains since he was a small child. For years, he counts among the most active German high-altitude mountaineers. In addition to a variety of six- and seven-thousanders, he has also been on nine 8,000ers. Six of those he successfully climbed with his wife Alix von Melle – also a member of the LOWA Pro Team – without the use of supplemental oxygen. He has made a name for himself in the mountain sports scene in particular from his spectacular ski descents from the highest mountains in the world. Those include descents from Gasherbrum II 8,035 meters, Nanga Parbat 8,125 meters, Broad Peak 8,051 meters, K2 8,611 meters, Manaslu 8,163 meters, Shisha Pangma 8,027 meters and the Pik Lenin 7,134-meter north face, all of which he successfully skied down either in part or completely.
Each year, Alix von Melle and Luis Stitzinger do numerous slide show presentations all over Germany. In 2015, they published their book, “Live your Passion – Together on the highest mountains in the world” (“Leidenschaft Leben – Gemeinsam auf die höchsten Berge der Welt”), in which they discuss their adventures together as a married mountaineering couple.
On an expedition, the reliability of my gear is the only true security I have. And I can always rely 100% on my LOWA boots!
