Calling All Rad Women – Here’s Your Chance for An Epic Everest Basecamp Trip!

 

Aurora Women’s Expeditions (AWE) and Nite Ize, with the support of LOWA Boots, have teamed up to launch the $5,000 Summit Scholarship that will send one hand-picked woman on the mountain trip of a lifetime: to Everest Basecamp and Island Peak. AWE is founded and led by Sunny Stroeer, LOWA Ambassador, high mountain athlete and expedition leader.

√  The Summit Scholarship will cover one selected woman’s complete expedition fee ($3,190.)

√  Plus, a $500 stipend for use towards international flights to/from Kathmandu.

√  The scholarship also includes expedition-relevant gear from Nite Ize, and top quality mountaineering footwear from LOWA Boots valued at more than $1,300.

 

Mountaineering expeditions can create tremendously empowering experiences, but they are also costly and tend to be the domain of the privileged; the Summit Scholarship aims to make high altitude mountaineering accessible to outdoor lovers who typically might not have the means, or the opportunity, to participate in a Himalayan expedition.

FULL DETAILS:

  • Applications are being accepted between April 4th and May 1st, 2019.
  • The expedition will take place from October 5th to October 26th, 2019. 
  • Submit Summit Scholarsip applications at AWExpeditions.org located in Boulder, Colorado.
  • The scholarship recipient will be announced by May 15, 2019.
  • Qualified applicants must be female, available to travel to Nepal in October 2019, and enthusiastic about challenging themselves physically and mentally in a harsh outdoor environment.
    • Excellent cardio shape is a must, prior mountaineering experience is not mandatory. 
  • The Summit Scholarship will cover one selected woman’s complete expedition fee ($3,190) and a $500 stipend for use towards international flights to/from Kathmandu.
