Long haul hiker provides solid support and protection.

Stamford, Connecticut - April, 2002 - The May issue of Backpacker gives the LOWA Tibet GTX high marks in a grueling test they've been conducting since last fall. Read what Backpacker has to say about the Tibet:

"These go-anywhere boots are ideal for long-haul hikers who need solid support and protection.

Todd was a little anxious when he first laced up these stiff all-terrain hikers for the initial break-in period at his home in Texas. But he reported no blisters in Alaska, and these brawny boots delivered such solid support and ankle protection that Todd's chronic foot trouble (from a gruesome college injury) didn't flare up.

The Tibet's toebox provided Todd's wide forefoot just the right amount of wiggle room, and the heel gave him a non-slip fit.

Once broken-in, the comfortable fit let him appreciate the features that made this boot shine in Alaska as an all-leather, Gore-Tex lined upper that stayed dry and shrugged off debris; a grippy sole that keep him sure-footed on wet rocks; a high snug ankle that stabilized his weak joints on rough, steep terrain; and a rigid footbed that didn't surrender under heavy loads.

And durability? Todd admits, "I'm afraid these boots will outlast me."
